Twelve months and counting.

I can’t believe a year has passed since I started blogging!
Initially it was a just a bit of fun to help me understand the mechanics of blogging, but I soon became addicted, how many visitors, how many page views, from how many countries, my first follower and then my first comment.

I’d like to say a big thank you to all my readers, particularly those who've given me help and encouragement, become followers, or taken the time comment, and last but not least, I’d like to say a special thanks to Alan Sloman whose support in the early days gave the motivation to continue.

My first year of blogging has produced 54 posts, 7164 visits, 19 followers and 53 comments not earth shattering, but considering my fairly quiet year on the hills quite encouraging, will My Wild Camping see its second birthday? I hope so!

Save Monadhliath Mountains update.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post to help publicise the Save the Monadhliath Mountains Petition. The Save the Monadhliath Mountains campaign, now has its own website, which has recently gone live.
I wish them well, and hope that they can build on, and complement the outstanding contribution already made by Alan Sloman, through his superb blog and his Wake for the Wild Walk.

Save Monadhliath Mountains

The Monadhliath Mountains are a wild and wonderful place, not protected by national park status, they are currently being desecrated by the construction of dozens of wind turbines. You can help save what’s left of this once road free wilderness by signing the Save the Monadliath Mountains petition here. Chris Townsend’s blog has more information about the Monadlaith Mountains and the Cairngorms wild places here, and Allan Sloman continues to keep a watchful eye on the wind generation industry here.

Wake for the Wild.

To day is the day of the “Wake for the Wild “ walk. Alan Sloman and a group of people will carry a coffin from Errogie, via Dunmaglass Lodge to the site of the Dunmaglass Windfarm.

Wind farms love them or hate them?

Wind farms you either love them or hate them, but do you know the facts about their cost, generating output and efficiency? I don’t, but I’ve come across a guy who does. Whilst not immune to colourful rhetoric, Alan Sloman the well known walker and blogger, is doing a brilliant job collecting together the real facts about wind farms. Click here, to find out all you ever wanted to know about the subject. If you weren't worried about the loss of our wild places, you will be after seeing the the map entitled  The Monadhliath Ring of Steel. Its a real eye opener.
